After eight years of struggling with his large scalp bump, Adrian finally took the first step and did what he could to help himself. The professions he was interested in were very social, and you had to have a lot of confidence to pull them off. Despite his desire for change, he knew he was too self-conscious to just go for it. Slowly, his aspirations in life started to fade away. It felt like he would never be able to escape the insecurities his large scalp bump caused, and he became a prisoner of his own self-loathing.

The failed treatments didn’t just hurt his ego, they also hurt his pockets. Every new cream, antibiotic course, steroid injection, and clinic visit meant another out-of-pocket expense, and while some offered brief relief, none delivered lasting healing. Those financial setbacks compounded the emotional ones, making Adrian feel trapped between his desire to get better and the limits of what he could afford. Slowly, the mounting costs, the repeated appointments, and the constant frustration began to erode his resilience. He was dangerously close to accepting a future defined by loneliness and defeat.
