Dr. Umar Patient Sees Norwood 1 Full Hair Restoration Using Body Hair Grafts: Patients with significant hair loss are often told by hair transplant clinics, that they would have to prioritize areas they want to be covered since a full hair restoration that addresses both the front, top, and crown is not common. Often the patient is told to sacrifice the crown and focus on just the front and mid-top. This is because of the limitations placed on these clinics by their complete reliance on the very finite head donor hair supply. These restrictions are not encountered by Dr. Umar in patients in who body and beard hair can be used to vastly expand the donor pool. By eliminating this limitation in donor supply, Dr. Umar is able to provide patients with a full head of hair that addresses the entire area of baldness equally. So it was in this patient with his Norwood 5 + hair loss who wants from Dr. Umar an NW 0 hairline and global coverage of his baldness that includes the crown as well.

Following his hair transplant, this patient also underwent trichopigmentation to improve white dotting experienced from beard hair extraction. In this case, this patient has East Indian Heritage. The white dotting he experienced is likely to be more visible in darker toned people of color. Dr. Umar can also treat the white dotting by laser treatment or as in this case with trichopigmentation.

Norwood 1 Full Hair Restoration – Frequently Asked Questions:
Exactly what caused the white dotting in this patient? Is that common?
The white dots this patient experienced in his beard donor area resulted from the natural healing process after the Dr.UGraft procedure. This kind of discoloration generally occurs in people of darker skin color. Dr. Umar can readily treat it using trichopigmentation.
Is it better to cover the crown or focus on the hairline during hair restoration?
That is a choice best left for a patient to decide with Dr. Umar. Obviously, each case is different, each patient has different expectations and desired goals for treatment. Some patients experience heavy loss on the crown, rather than at the front of the head. For these patients, focusing more reconstruction on the crown area would be most beneficial.
