Reverse Hair Thinning: This patient from Hollywood, Los Angeles, had reached the Norwood 3-level baldness stage. At this point, his hairline had receded considerably. Furthermore, the hair on the top of his head was thinning. The patient was unhappy with how this affected his appearance and wanted to regain his youthful head of hair. He discovered Dr. Umar’s work and chose him to perform a Dr.UGraft FUE hairline reconstruction and crown restoration with 3500 grafts.

Dr.UGraft™ FUE Hairline Reconstruction for Norwood 5 – Before Photos:
The patient’s nape and scalp supplied his hairline transplant with 3500 grafts. Here are photos depicting the patient’s appearance when he first came to the Dr. U Hair and Skin Clinic. He hoped to reverse his hair loss condition through a Dr.UGraft™ FUE surgery that would produce the most natural-looking results possible.

Reverse Hair Thinning with Dr.UGraft™ FUE – Procedure Photos
Dr. Umar performed a Dr.UGraft FUE hairline transplant with 3500 grafts on the patient’s head and nape. He developed his own highly specialized FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technology, the Dr.UPunch I ™, to extract hair follicle grafts. The outstanding hairline results that Dr. Umar is known for can largely be attributed to the features of the Dr.UPunch I ™ device. For this patient’s case, it was necessary to achieve the following:
- Ability to safely harvest nape hair
- Ability to remove healthy, robust head hair grafts
Whereas conventional FUE extraction devices follow a straight trajectory into the skin, the Dr.UPunch I ™ is designed to navigate straight or angled hair, like nape hair. Furthermore, Dr. Umar engineered the Dr.UPunch I ™ to prevent the most common factors that lead to damaged grafts. In doing so, follicles implanted in the recipient area remain in their healthiest state to thrive and produce the reliable, long-term growth that patients can count on after their procedure.

Hair Restoration In Your 20s- Before and After Results Photos Of a Hollywood, Los Angeles Patient
The grafts for this patient grew to full fruition by the 19th month. Dr. Umar used thin nape hair to create a soft edge in the very front and gradually combined the use of head hair to reproduce a natural and seamless progression to the rest of the head.
Grafts from the scalp were used to fill the thinning regions on top of the head. For this patient’s Dr.UGraft™ FUE hairline transplant with 3500 grafts, Dr. Umar was able to recreate the natural hair growth patterns on the patient’s head through carefully crafted insertions. And he designed the hairline and temples to not only restore the youthful appearance of this patient from Hollywood but also to compliment his overall set of facial features, helping him to look his absolute best.

In this video, Dr. Umar describes more details of the patient’s Dr.UGraft™ FUE hairline procedure. This includes the hairline and top of the head and the excellent healing result of the nape region where finer, softer hair was harvested. The patient is also happy to note that no one, except those he told confidently, can tell he had undergone a surgical receding hairline treatment with FUE.

Frequently Asked Questions – Dr.UGraft™ FUE Hairline Reconstruction
If I want to reverse hair thinning with Dr.UGraft™ FUE surgery, when can I start to see my new results?
According to Dr. Umar, the signs of new growth start to become apparent around 3-4 months following a hair transplant surgery. However, exact timeframes can vary from patient to patient. Typically, results are seen around 12-18 months after surgery, like this patient who underwent a Dr.UGraft™ FUE hairline transplant with 3500 grafts.
Can the same type of Dr.UGraft™ FUE results for crown baldness and hairline thinning shown on this patient be achieved using strip surgery?
With strip surgery, surgeons can only harvest hair from the back of the scalp’s lower part on the head. This is where hair tends to grow the thickest. Due to using a scalpel, nape hair would not be an option. Therefore, only thick hairs could be used for the hairline. And using the strip surgery method, doctors would be unable to recreate the gradual progression from softer to thicker hair. The results would not be as natural-looking in appearance compared to using fine hairs in the very front and creating a subtle progression to thicker hairs, an essential quality found in natural hairlines.
Is any non-surgical solution available as an alternative to a Dr.UGraft™ FUE hairline reconstruction?
In the very beginning stages of hairline recession, individuals can often hide signs of hair loss with hair styling tricks. But as more hair is lost, this becomes more difficult. Drugs like Rogaine and Propecia can help slow down the rate of hair shedding. Their recommended use is for the crown; the area examined through clinical studies. However, the hair follicles are the same in the crown and hairline. The use of drugs to restore hair growth in the hairline is not guaranteed.
