This enabled the safe extraction of afro-textured hair, a feat previously considered impossible in FUE due to the tightly coiled nature of the hair follicles underneath the skin. However, the hooked design allowed the Dr.UPunch Curl™ to follow the curve of these curly follicles like no other punch had achieved before — even the Intelligent Punch™ (Dr.UPunch i™).
This is because another factor in afro-textured hair transplant is the toughness of the skin around the follicle — this tissue tends to form more muscular attachments to the graft, which requires a sharp edge to detach.
