Hair Transplant Using Beard Hair, Scalp Hair, Chest Hair, Leg Hair, Thigh Hair, & Arm Hair Restores NW6 Hair Loss: It wasn’t an overnight restoration for Dr. U Hair and Skin Clinic NW6 patient. When he decided to embark on the journey into hair repair, he wouldn’t have imagined he’d end up with two evident botched hair transplant scars from a lousy FUSS surgery, nor that he’d have minimal to practically no way of hiding the scars due to his already thinning hair.

Fortunately, renowned hair restoration specialist Dr. Sanusi Umar in Manhattan Beach, Calif., developed an advanced Follicular Unit Extraction surgery method using the patented Dr.UGraft machine. This method uses beard and body hair to camouflage hair transplant scars and typically allows patients to wear shorter haircuts. In this patient’s case, after successful FUE surgery with Dr. Umar, he was able to style his hair with a short buzz cut that not only hid his scars but didn’t look patchy or show obvious signs that his hair was thinning.

Before Hair Restoration by Dr. U in Manhattan Beach
Before consulting or having any hair procedures with Dr. Umar, the patient was left with scarring and a limited amount of hair on his scalp for future hair transplants. If a patient has already experienced a notable amount of balding and hair thinning, they will be left with very few follicles for future FUE surgeries.
Procedure: Using Body Hair– Leg, Arm, Chest, and Thigh Hair To Head Transplantation

In 2011, Dr. Umar performed a flourishing beard hair-to-head hair transplant. The transplant using beard hair restored the patient’s NW6 hair loss by transplanting 9,500 head and beard hairs on the patient’s entire NW 6 areas. He also used 1,500 beard grafts to cover up the strip scars. By using the Dr.UGraft ZEUS FUE equipment, Dr. Umar could extract follicles from the beard with a significantly higher success rate than an essential FUE tool.
In 2019, the patient returned to the Dr.U Hair Clinic once again to enhance his growth results from his previous procedure. Dr. Umar extracted donor follicles from the patient’s chest, arm, leg, thigh, and head to better achieve the patient’s vision with the appropriate number of grafts.

The two large scars were successfully camouflaged by beard hair. The hair restoration was so successful that within 13 months after the procedure, he was able to have a buzz cut with a low fade and a clean line up at his hairline *

By October 2019, the patient, close to reaching his desired level of hair restoration, opted for a final surgery. This time Dr. Umar used donor hair from the legs, thighs, forearm, and lower arms to transplant on the crown and top of his head. A total of 3000 grafts were transplanted.

This case demonstrates that even if you have had a botched hair transplant surgery that left you with scarring, there’s always hope. If you experienced a botched hair transplant or are concerned about balding, schedule a consultation with Dr. Umar today!

FAQ – Dr.U Hair Transplant Using Body Hair For Norwood 6 Hair Loss
Will my hair transplant scar show if I shave my head for a short haircut?
While results may vary from patient to patient and contingent upon the quality and quantity of hair grafts and baldness, Dr. Umar’s hair transplant surgeries using the Dr.UGraft ZEUS FUE devices have shown great success. Particularly in camouflaging hair transplant scars and allowing patients to shave their heads.
How do I get rid of hair transplant scars?
Hiding scars, let alone hair transplant scars, can be tricky considering there is no one best solution. Even if you have a depleted head donor supply, Dr. Umar’s innovative technologies and hair transplant scars can vastly improve. Depending on your presentation options, include and or a combination of the following:
- Grafting the scar to cover and camouflage it with hair derived from either the beard or scalp using the Dr. UGraft ZEUS technologies (1)
- Adding pigment by trichopigmentation to minimize the color contrast of the scar to the surrounding scalp
- Surgically cutting out the scar and using Athena Tension kits to minimize scar widening without W plastics
What is the average hair transplant scar repair cost if I want to use body hair from areas like the chest and legs?
The cost of hair transplant scar removal using body hair is usually different from scalp hair. Dr.U usually combines scalp hair with any body hair he uses to create a more seamless-looking result that blends naturally with the remaining head areas. Also, your final cost will depend on other factors, such as the number of grafts, hair thickness, hair curliness, hair-to-scalp color contrast, and more. It would be best to get a close estimate when planning to finance your procedure. Dr.U offers free initial online consultations to help individuals like yourself understand the number and types of grafts needed. Using our complimentary DIY online calculator, you may also get a rough estimate of your donor graft count.
