The excitement around PP405 raises a simple question: if it can help wake dormant hair follicles, why should it not already be considered a cure for baldness? The answer, as I explain in this short video, comes down to the difference between targeting one mechanism and addressing the broader causes of hair loss.
What PP405 Is Designed to Target
PP405 acts on a specific target involving the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier, or MPC. In the video, I describe this pathway in the context of waking dormant follicles. That makes PP405 an interesting area of attention, but a single molecular target is not the same thing as a complete solution for every form or cause of hair loss.

Why Hair Loss May Require More Than One Approach
Hair loss can involve more than one contributing factor. In the video, I point to androgenetic influences as well as hormones, inflammation, stress, illness, circulation and nutrient gaps. Stopping one pathway does not necessarily stop the others. This is why describing PP405 as a cure goes beyond what this single-target approach can establish at this stage.
The same principle helps explain why existing treatments do not work for every individual. I reference minoxidil and finasteride as examples of treatments that can regrow hair in more than 50 percent of individuals who take them, yet neither functions as a universal answer when used alone.
PP405 May Need a Treatment Team
Rather than thinking of PP405 as a stand-alone cure, the more useful question is where it might fit within a broader treatment strategy. As I put it in the video, PP405 will likely need a “team,” meaning other treatments that address causes or pathways it cannot touch.
That distinction matters when evaluating new approaches to hair strengthening and scalp health. A promising mechanism can still be meaningful without being a cure. For PP405, the key is to separate what the target is designed to do from claims that it can solve the full range of factors involved in hair loss.
