Severe Keloids: The Lesion Dr. Umar Wanted to Remove

Festus’s treatment continues with Dr. Sanusi Umar focusing on two severe keloids along the beard line and chin. In Episode 3, Chapter 14 of The Bumpinator, Dr. Umar explains which lesion was removed first, the injections used during treatment, and why the next lesion drew his particular attention.

Starting at the Right Jaw

Dr. Umar begins by identifying the first lesion removed, located on Festus’s right jaw in the beard area. He explains that the treatment included a substantial amount of intralesional injections along with additional material placed in the area.

He also makes clear that some of the treatment methods used in the clinic are not standard approaches. “A lot of those treatments are out of the box concoctions we developed here in this clinic,” Dr. Umar says.

Moving From the Jaw to the Chin

After addressing the right jaw, Dr. Umar moves to the lesion on Festus’s chin. This second target stands out in the chapter because of Dr. Umar’s own reaction to it.

“That lesion is the one that really bothers me,” he says. “I really wanted to get rid of it.” The comment keeps the focus on the clinical decision in front of him and the specific lesion he wants to address next.

Treatment Is More Than Removal

This chapter presents surgical removal of keloids as only one part of the treatment being used for Festus. The supplied material also emphasizes injections and clinic-developed methods used alongside the procedure.

At the same time, the chapter does not claim a permanent solution for keloids or reveal a later outcome. Instead, it stays with Dr. Umar’s immediate treatment decisions at the jaw and chin. The next chapter continues Festus’s story.
